Clarendon Partners Welcomes Carlos Alvarenga as MDO Market Leader

We’re thrilled to welcome Carlos A. Alvarenga to Clarendon Partners as our new Market Leader for Mission Driven Organizations (MDO)—serving nonprofits, NGOs, and associations.

Carlos joined our team to lead the launch and growth of our new MDO market practice, bringing decades of experience helping mission-driven organizations scale their impact. Inspired by the opportunity to expand the influence of his work beyond 1:1 advisory, Carlos is excited to leverage Clarendon Partners’ platform to deliver broader value to the sector.

He brings with him a distinguished background, most recently serving as the Executive Director of World 50 Labs, and previously as a Managing Director at Accenture and adjunct professor at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Carlos is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English at the University of Maryland and holds a degree in Humanities from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.

Carlos’s passion for this work began with his very first engagement with the CEO of Natan International Relief Agency. Since then, he has worked with non-profit organizations such as the United Way, the Fernbank Museum of Science, The Coral Reef Foundation, the Florida Justice Institute, and the Jewish Museum of Maryland. In all his MDO work, he’s made it his mission to elevate the performance and resilience of organizations committed to making a difference. He’s excited to build with—and learn from—the smart, talented teammates here at Clarendon Partners.

A bit more about Carlos: He was born in El Salvador and moved to the U.S. at age 10. His first job was as a reporter, and if he weren’t in consulting, he’d love to be a professional pianist—specifically playing a jazz set in a local club someday. In his free time, Carlos enjoys reading, sailing, and playing piano. He has lived and worked in cities across the globe, including New York, Buenos Aires, London, and Barcelona. He now calls the D.C. area home, drawn by a love of politics and life on the East Coast. Oh, and did we mention? He’s written three books—and counting.

His advice for early career professionals? “Develop the 3 Cs: Competence, Clarity, and Confidence. With those, you’ll rise to the top in almost any field.”

We’re proud to have Carlos on board and can’t wait to see the impact he has on leading our MDO practice.
